How to read these figures

CMS excludes any hospital×DRG cell derived from 10 or fewer discharges, so a hospital missing from a ranking is suppressed, not absent — never a zero. Sums over disclosed rows are floors and are labeled as such; shares are computed only against the totals CMS publishes for the geography, which are not restricted to the disclosed rows. Maryland hospitals are paid under that state's all‑payer waiver, so their charge and payment figures do not compare with the rest.

Why there is no clinician ranking here

There is no clinician ranking for a DRG — that is a fact about the data, not a gap in it. MS‑DRG is an inpatient hospital classification: CMS publishes it at hospital level only, one row per hospital per DRG, with no clinician identifier anywhere in the file.

Clinician volume lives in a different dataset — Medicare Part B professional claims — and that is what ranks clinicians on procedure-code markets. The two do not join: attributing a clinician's professional claims to a hospital's discharges would manufacture a figure CMS does not publish, so Nevvi does not print one.
